Welcome!

Hi.  My name is Chris Pickup.

I'd like to welcome you to my blog, and welcome you to my new adventure:  Mt. Harrison Audiology.

Although I've been an ASHA certified Audiologist since 2003, I am excited to take my career to a new level and open my own audiology practice.  I now have full control over patient care and can structure things the way I feel in my heart is in the best interest of those I care for.

My family and I have been very busy the last few months securing a location, getting all the necessary paperwork in order, and even building furniture for our clinic!

I am expanding my testing protocol and am excited to offer more precise middle ear evaluations, enhanced speech in noise testing, and most of all, auditory processing testing.  I know that once I can better identify hearing loss at it's source, the better treatment solutions I can prescribe.  You will be a big part of this as well.  When we discuss results, we will discuss which treatment options are best for you (which may or may not include hearing technology), and you make the decision of which solution you are comfortable with.

A new service I am excited to offer are options for Aural Rehabilitation.  More to come on that topic!

I'm a big believer in knowing exactly what you're getting when you purchase something.  I will not be bundling my hearing aid prices, but will break down each service/price so that everything is transparent. This means I will be charging for my hearing evaluations.  You expect to pay for a vision exam at an optometrist, and our clinic will be run in a similar manner...and will accept most insurance coverage.  I'm currently working hard to be credentialed for every possible insurance in Idaho!  It is quite the process, (and not so fun...)  This actually translates into lower costs and lower prices for both provider and patient.  Yes!

This blog will be a place where I can share "behind the scenes" things happening at our clinic, discuss hearing related topics, and answer questions you might have.

I hope you'll come visit us soon and see why my motto is "Hearing Healthcare with Heart"!
